i woman in mesa, arizona whom i've known for over 30 years recently died in her mobile home.
83 years old and too poor to afford the added electricity of air conditioning on her $500/month social security check, she was found dead in her chair with a fan blowing on her.
the elders said they didn't know.
(((Reuben)))....yet another black eye for those who claim to be God's "channel" which should be caring for widows and orphans as one of their top priorities....

maybe teejays thread inspired me.
(in the family section) maybe because the church service this morning was especially inspiring.
there are so many beautiful songs.
It would be a magic piece of music that mellows everyone's spirit, makes madmen sane, heals the sick in heart, mind and body, raises the dead, turns the desert wastelands into verdant meadows with streams, and rights all wrongs....

go here and look at the document numbers on the left hand side of the statements.
after the word (introduction) look for statement number (48).. http://www.hri.ca/fortherecord2000/documentation/commission/e-cn4-2000-9.htm .

do you believe in free will?and if you do can you explain how it works?.
i can't see how free will could work.our motivation for doing things good or bad seems to come from a mixture of genes and enviroment, and through a long and complicted process cause us to perform all the actions we experience in life.when we feel a prompting to do something ,eat sleep have sex etc, this is accomplished by our body using chemicals in our bodies to give us a feeling that we then act upon.the degree to which these chemicals prompt us is related to genetic makeup and environment.. so some people have a bigger desire to eat than others because they lack the chemical stimulation that tells them to stop eating.or some will eat less (often when ill) because the chemicals that prompt you to eat are lacking.in normal life lots of over factors will be involved to like say an important phonecall at lunch time .if your brain feels the information from that call is important enough it will send out different chemicals that will cause you to attend to that situation first if serious enought.. knowledge can modify how our bodies react to certain situations, for example a child may see an icecream van and run into the road because his body has yet to learn of the danger of running into a road.when taught how foolish this by a nasty experience or hopefully , taught about the dangers by its parents, then the body will send out a meesage to look at the road first.. our bodies tell us which ideas are good and bad according to the information it holds and we react accordingly.we can fight desires but the will to do so is caused by other desires which are prompted by the body.. to have true free will neither our genes or enviroment could effect what we decide to do.. we have to be able to do things irespective of what promting we recive from our bodies or what information we have learnt and has thus modified our bodies response.. maybe there are but i can not think of any situation where or actions or reactions can not be explianed by genes mixed with environment (often in a very complicated way).nor can i understand how free will could work, unless free will is just a random action which could not be free will in the true sense.. if there is no free will then if there were a god and we are judged on what we do then this is entirely unfair as we really have little say in what we do in life.
did you ever find yourself having to defend your faith, while at the same time knowing, that your arguments were not so good to begin with?
for example, a person might say,"you people don't take blood and believe in doctors.
" even if we might have doubts about the blood issue, we would still defend our "faith" as best as we could.
Yes, Min....in the beginning....but over the years, the excuses became more difficult to voice until there was finally no plausible excuse for their teachings nor for their patterns of behavior.

if you had your whole adult life ahead of you, what career would you choose to pursue and why?.
i'd choose marine biologist or scientific research.....because i wouldn't hafta deal so much with people's attitudes, marine life is beautiful and fun, science of this planet is interesting....it *can* be a lucrative field, depending on which aspect of it i choose to pursue.... frannie b
When I was small, I loved math and science and dreamed about working in academics or engineering someday. Now I think since I may only have one chance at university, I'd like to do something very challenging. I daydream of majoring in civil engineering someday, if I can get through the math . . .
Yes, Vanant! Sounds like a good plan, since this is where your interests have been from early childhood....and there are tutors who can help you thru the math....you might be able to work out a satisfactory "trade" with 'em by tutoring them in a subject you excell in...

I definitely know I am one of the lucky ones because I got out of the religion right in time (18-20 years old). So I do have my adult life ahead of me. I am on my fourth year of getting my BA in New Media, an up-and-coming field in the computer arts and internet area. I am very excited.
Additionally, my life partner and I have a company we are working on in the web development field, and just this month, got a huge client that will bring us a couple thousand dollars a month. That will get me through graduate school where I will try to get two degrees at the same time, in business and something arts-related.
Ideally, I would love to be a professor in the New Media department at my school, the department is developing nicely and I would love to be a part of one of the only schools in the nation currently developing in this field. Some of the greatest artistic minds are heading up this department and I have so much admiration for them and would love to work along side them.
WOWOW, jwbot....you are BLESSED! How exciting for you, cherie! What wonderful goals....I wish you the best of the best, chica!
Cheers!

Coming in? or going out?
Coming in....it was the Kingdom Melodies....looney tunes! I NEVER!! LOL!
Going out.....nothing could surprise me about them anymore...I thought....till I found out about their disengenuous affiliation with the U.N., which began the year before my Exodus and didn't discover until 2001....ten years later...
